Conference Hotel and Other Accomodations

The Conference Hotel is the Doubletree Hotel at the Berkeley Marina

It also looks like there are dorm rooms available on campus, probably in Stern Hall. These rooms would be less expensive than the hotel rooms.

Airports

Berkeley is served by three airports.

  • The Oakland (OAK) airport is closest to the conference venue.
  • San Francisco Airport (SFO) is second closest and biggest. Take BART from airport to Berkeley for $5.95.
  • San Jose (SJC ) is farthest away. If you can get a good rate on your ticket you might consider it.

From both the Oakland International Airport and the San Francisco International Airport, the Conference Hotel or the UC Berkeley campus can easily be reached via public transportation. Due to varying schedules throughout the day, it is best to see Transit.511.org for detailed directions.

Local Transportation

Public transportation is a major presence in the Bay Area. For point-to-point directions utilizing buses, BART (the light-rail system), shuttles, and other modes of public transportation, please consult Transit.511.org.

A.C. Transit serves several East Bay counties. This bus makes regular stops at the conference hotel.

Berkeley, California

It's generally warm (but not hot) in Berkeley in late June. The average maximum temperature is 75 F (23 C) and the average minimum temperature is 52 F (11 C). Berkeley, California, is known for its higher education and cosmopolitan culture and is the home of social movements, such as the Free Speech Movement, as well as innovative technology such as BSD (Berkeley Unix). The conference hotel is located on the water with a view of the San Francisco skyline.
